I started taggin like 10 years ago, I lived in the pilsen neighborhood & would travel to Bogan Hs located on 79th & Pulaski, which was a little over an hour commute. The 8 bus to the orange line Halsted station to the pulaski station, then the 52 bus to Pulaski & 79th.
The interesting thing was the orange line part, Damn pawtna! Crews like Cmk, Air, Saw, Sfa are some of the ones I remember the most, but, Binker was doing something different in my eyes, straight, clean, sometimes bubbly others traditional two tone pieces, maybe with a character in the same two tones. It was literally a sign/ advertisement, like his marketing tool, different at the time. Then I would see other names in the same style, Binker, Mad, Hershe, even pink & purple fills with Nubes & Clouds, I thought Sfa "crew" got something going here, but, later to find out this was 1 guy, all these names that where street smacked, line killing, block buster rocking influential pieces to me, was 1 person.
Unfortunately Jesse aka Mad passed away this week, We'll miss his flows both verbally & visually, thanks Binker from Crow & the UBC familia which was fortunate to paint & be graced with your presence.
